San Francisco Proposal Photographer

Candid proposal photography that stays out of the way, until she says yes.

What working with me looks like

Proposals only work if they feel real, which means I'm not standing next to you with a camera. I've shot proposals all over San Francisco long enough to know how to document the moment candidly, close enough to catch the exact second she says yes, without it ever feeling staged. We'll plan the walk, the spot, and the timing together beforehand, down to where you'll be standing and which direction to face for the light. On the day, you focus on the moment. I'll handle the rest.

In their words
"He captured the most memorable moment in the best way, and even met me weeks before to walk through the exact plan. His attention to detail made a big-pressure moment so much simpler."

Why San Francisco

San Francisco gives you a proposal backdrop most cities can't: coastline, skyline, and quiet park corners, often within a short walk of wherever you're already planning to take her. The hard part of a proposal isn't finding a nice view, it's finding one where you can time everything right and not end up surrounded by fifty tourists. That's the part I help you solve.

A few of my favorite spots to propose
  • Tank Hill. Same skyline view as Twin Peaks, none of the tour buses.
  • The Wave Organ. A quiet jetty out past the Marina, whole bay behind you.
  • Ina Coolbrith Park. A hidden Russian Hill overlook, almost no foot traffic.
  • Lands End, Eagle's Point trail. Dramatic coastline, easy to find a private moment.
  • Golden Gate Bridge overlooks: Battery Spencer, Marshall's Beach

Questions

How do you photograph the proposal without it feeling staged?

I scout the spot ahead of time and shoot from a comfortable distance with a longer lens, so the moment reads candid, not staged. We'll walk through exactly where I'll be during planning, so you know what to expect too.

What if it's windy or foggy that day?

San Francisco weather changes fast, and I plan for it. I'll have backup timing and, if needed, a backup nearby spot so the day isn't dependent on one narrow window.

Can you help me plan the actual proposal, not just photograph it?

Yes. Most of my proposal clients want help with timing, the walk, and where to stand, not just someone with a camera. That planning is part of working with me.

Do you photograph the reaction after, celebrating with family or a photo op?

Yes, happy to stay for that if it's part of your plan. and we'll build it into the timeline.

How much does a proposal session cost?

Every session is quoted based on what you're planning, so I don't publish flat rates. Send an inquiry and I'll get you a real number fast.

Can we do this somewhere outside San Francisco?

Yes, at no extra cost. Marin Headlands, Napa, and the Peninsula are all common choices.
