Proposal photography is the work I do most in wine country, and Napa and Sonoma are where the plans usually land. The reason is simple: a vineyard at golden hour does something a city block can't. The rows give you depth, the hills hold the last of the light for an extra twenty minutes, and there's almost always a quiet corner where the two of you can stand alone without a crowd behind you.
Before the day, we plan it properly: where you'll walk in from, where I'll be standing, what the signal is, and what happens in the minute right after. I shoot the moment itself from a distance with a longer lens, documentary style, so nothing about it feels staged. Once she says yes I come in, and we spend the rest of the light on real portraits, still in the same vineyard, still in the same mood.

Do you travel to Napa and Sonoma for proposals?
Yes, regularly. Napa, Sonoma, Healdsburg, and Petaluma are all part of my normal shooting radius, and proposals up here are one of the things I do most.
Is there a travel fee for wine country?
No travel fee for Napa or Sonoma. If your plan runs unusually early or late and an overnight makes sense, I'll tell you upfront before you book. No surprises.
